Here at B2 we love offering great opportunities within our teams to new, bright and hard-working individuals who are looking to take their first steps onto the career ladder.
With this in mind we developed the one and only, B2 Boot Camp. The Boot Camp gave us the opportunity to invite enthusiastic applicants to join us for our assessment process over a number of weeks. Also, the B2 Boot Camp was a great opportunity for eager applicants to find out a little more about B2 as a business and the world of printing.
Once the initial assessment had been completed and the applicants had been put through their paces, we offered four well deserving applicants the opportunity to join the B2 apprenticeship scheme in partnership with Coleg Cambria.
The apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity for people who are looking to find their first role and begin a sales career within the printing industry. Throughout, each applicant will develop new skills and will experience working in a range of areas company-wide, to get a feel of how the company runs day to day and what each departments does to contribute.
The partnership with Coleg Cambria is an exciting one, as each of the chosen applicants have been assigned a tutor. This tutor will support them along their journey and will guide them over the next 12 months, to help them achieve that well respected NVQ that is held in high esteem by employers.
We are proud to say that we work alongside WEST Assessment (Wales Essential Skills Toolkit) to help candidates get the most from their apprenticeship. WEST is bilingual and incorporates a range of learning tools, plans and assessments covering the learning of essential skills such as communication, number application and digital literacy. Whatever career path apprentices take, these skills will be fundamental, so this is a really great opportunity for anyone wanting to start climbing the career ladder.
The successful four from the B2 Boot Camp, will be able to apply to work in sales with all of the product knowledge and sales skills once their apprenticeship has run its course. This means that they will be doing a job that they are fully qualified for.
It’s important to note, that we don’t expect apprentice’s to be experts, what we are actually looking for in our new staff members, is great individuals who are keen to learn, are passionate and have a positive attitude! The four applicants that have been selected definitely have these attributes in abundance!
A key responsibility for each new starter is calling prospective clients to identify new business opportunities, and following up lead calls and emails to see if there is any interest in our products and services which could lead to potential sales. This is just a part of the apprenticeship, as the role will be varied, and they’ll be doing something different every day.
With a good knowledge of IT and a great telephone manner, excellent communication and team skills, the ability to solve problems, use their own initiative and of course the desire to help B2 achieve its goals were essential skills in the selection process. We will now assist our chosen apprentices to improve many skills and gain experience within the business, to become confident in their work.
So, that’s an overview of how our new recruits came to be and the apprenticeship course that they will be undertaking over the next 12 months. A huge thank you to Coleg Cambria for their support.
We are excited for the year ahead of us and we have high hopes for our apprentices who due to join us early June. Good luck to them all as they begin their career with B2.
